New International Official - December 2007
Cambridge Instructor, Julie Gabriel has qualified as an International Judge/Referee while attending the World Combat Championships in Trebes, France. Canne de Combat World Championships - October 2004
The GBSF sent a team to the World Championships, which took place on Reunion Island (in the Indian Ocean) in October 2004. The trip was a great experience, and the Championships showed the level it is possible for some people to perform in the art of Canne de Combat. Despite there being only a few people in the country to select competitors from, Team GB came in 6th out of the 8 countries taking part. The team was made up of:

Ollie Batts (non-competing Team GB Captain)
Fred Berst (the original Cambridge-based instructor)
Jon West (Fred's protégé & current Cambridge-based instructor)
Morgan Alexander (CAMA Cambridge)
Martin Ross (Guildford Spectrum)

Highest placed GB individual was Fred Berst who achieved 20th place overall by winning two fights out of his four. The others undoubtedly learnt a lot from being there, and competing against some of the world's very best.
