Savate Assaut League - Event 4 - London - Sunday 9th November 2008:

The GBSF National League Finals will be held in Central London on 9th November. Download flyer.

The league consists of four events at which fighters can collect points that determine the champions and vice-champions of 2008. A lively set of tournaments in Oxford, Cambridge and Farncombe have set the scene for the final encounter of the year. Come and watch the best Savateurs and Savateueses in the country do battle, all within walking distance of central London stations.

When:
Sunday 9th November, 10am-6pm
Weigh-ins from 10:30am, fights from 11am

Venue:
London Nautical School Sports Hall, Hatfields, off Stamford Street, London SE1
(nearest stations: Waterloo, Southwark, Blackfriars)

Entry:
£8 fighters
£5 spectators
GBSF members: enter via your instructor by Wednesday 4th November
Others and foreign entry: please contact James Southwood for information

Rules:
The event will take place on mats and under very strict FIS "assaut" (controlled contact, without power) rules. Warnings & disqualifications wil be given for excessive contact, incorrect distance, hitting with the shin or sloppy technique !!

10:00am arrival
10:30am weigh-ins
11:00am fights start (eliminations)
2m/3pm finals start
5:00pm fights finish
5:30pm awards and closing
6:00pm exit

Officials:
Clubs entering competitors in this event will be expected to provide officials to assist with judging, refereeing, and time-keeping. This rule DOES apply to foreign competitors.

Accommodation:
No accommodation is provided as this is a one day GBSF event. Anyone who needs to stay over, and would like details of B&Bs or hotels should contact James as early as possible.

 

 

January - Grading & Instructor Training - Cambridge

 Venue: TBA
 Open to: GBSF members & others interested in learning Savate, La Canne and Savate Defense
 Times: 11.00 am - 4.00 pm
 Costs: GBSF Annual Licenced Members: £8 (plus £16 for anyone grading)
  Others: GBSF Annual Licence Fee of £16, plus above costs

Training opportunities will include:
1) 'Come and try it' sessions - open to anyone interested in learning Savate and La Canne
2) General training in Savate
3) Savate Defense
4) Gradings
5) Instructor training
